The US basketball olympic team competing in the 2012 London Olympics is perhaps one of the most powerful to have ever played in this torunament or in any other major tournament. Compared to the 2010 team, which was full of 2nd tier players, this year the US team is seriously making a stand to win with the best. A team with players like Kobe Bryant, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosch, Kevin Durant, Dwight Howard, Kevin Love, and Lebron James is almost or completely unbeatable.

Which other basketball team rivals such tremendous power? Perhaps the Spanish team might make the US team suffer. A team with players like Pau Gasol, Marc Gasol, Calderon, and Serge Ibaka and Rudy Fernandez, all of them NBA players, and other ex NBA like Sergio Rodriguez, and "la bomba" Navarro can cause many problems to the US team. However, it looks difficult that the Spanish team can threaten the US without a magic touch of luck.

Another argument to support my thesis is that Spanish key players like Rudy Fernandez are definitely not in their best moment and Pau Gasol does not seem to be the killer pivot he was when he won 2 NBA's with LA Lakers. On top of that, Ricky Rubio, the golden rookie is still recovering from an injury and sadly won't make it for this tournament. In any case, both of the teams apsire to reach the 2012 Olympic final without too many problems, which will bring an extremely interesting match!
