There is no reason to think they did, and it certainly didn't look or sound like it. If they had mimed, we would probably have heard about it by now - you can't really keep these things secret. Have a look here and see if you think they seem to be miming.

The idea of miming may be in people's minds now because Noel Gallagher claims he was asked to mime during a performance of Wonderwall with his brother Liam - he didn't want to do it so he turned down the offer, and Liam did the song without him.

Whatever may have happened at the closing ceremony, it certainly did a lot for One Direction's public profile - they are now set to play at the MTV Video Music Awards on 6 September, and we'll probably be hearing a lot more about them in the next few months.
