Color blindness is most often of genetic nature, i.e. You get it from your parents.

In 1798, John Dalton, an English chemist, published the first scientific paper on color blindness -- "Extraordinary facts relating to the vision of colours" after realised his own color blindess. Therefore, Daltonism is the medical term for color blindness

Unfortunately, there is no cure for color blindness so far.
