Menorca, is a Spanish island located in the Mediterranean Sea. Since it is smaller than Mallorca (or Majorca), the island nearby, it is also called Minorca.
Minorca has a population of less than 1 million with an area of 695.7 km2 . The highest point of Menorca is El Toro or Monte Toro where is 358 meters above sea level.
Menorca was once British possession as it was invaded by Britain's Royal Navy in 1708. Therefore, you can still see the the British influence in local buildings such as sash windows.
There are more than 300 days of sunshine in a year in Menorca. With blue sky and emeralds beaches, Minorca was given the distinction of "Reserve of Biosphere" by the UNESCO in 1993.
