1984 is one of the most important dystopian novels of all times. the novel is a critique of totalitarian regimes that has strong resonances in our contemporary world.

The first film adaptation of 1984 was a BBC production directed by Rudolph Cartier in 1954 with Peter Cushing, Andre Morell and Yvonne mitchell as protagonists.

Two years later, Michael Anderson directed the the first cinema adaptation of the novel, starring Edmon O'Brien, Jan Sterling, Michael Redgrave and Donald Pleasence.

Precisely in the year 1984 Michael Radford and Jonathan Gems directed another version, this time with actors John Hurt, Richard Burton and Suzanna Hamilton.

The latest version of the novel will be led by Brian Grazer and Ron Howard.
