The origin of wedding anniversaries dates back to medieval Germany. In those times, there were only two anniversaries: 25th and 50th anniversaries. A silver wreath was presented on the 25th anniversary, whereas a gold wreath was gifted on 50th.

This tradition has been evolved to celebrate almost every year anniversary. The lists below show the wedding anniversary names, symbolic gifts, flower gifts and jewellery gifts (gemstones).
