Egon Schiele (June 12, 1890 – October 31, 1918) was an Austrian Painter, well known for being one of the precursors of the Expressionism.
He was a pupil of Gustav Klimt and was influenced by the work of Van Gogh, Munch and Toorop.
His work was figurative and his themes were very controversial focusing in self portraits, nude, sex, erotism and death.
Schiele spent one month in prison in 1911 after an exhibition in which his work was considered immoral and pornographic.
