Since its creation in 2006, Wikileaks and its founder Julian Assange have been publishing government and corporate information that had been previously held in secrecy. Wikileaks has managed to publish an enormous amount of highly compromising and sensitive material about wars and corruption in the most important newspapers like The Guardian or the Washington Post.

Friends of WikiLeaks is the name of the social network of Wikileaks and its aim is to defend Wikileaks ideals via networking with and joining people sharing the same ideas and hopes as Wikileaks all over the world. The difference with Facebook and Google+ is that Friends of WikiLeaks assigns friendship to members rather than members having to search for their own friends. In this case, Friends of WikiLeaks assigns 12 friends to members, 6 from a similar location and six others from other parts of the world.
