There are many different types of curries, which mainly appear in the Souther Asian Cuisines, e.g. Bangladeshi, Indian, Pakistani, Sri Lankan, Thai and etc. The definitions of curry can vary from country to country.

The word 'curry' in India means sauce, and thus all Indian foods made with sauces are curries, i.e. vegetables, fish or meat cooked with spices with or without gravy. The earliest known curry recipe are found near Babylon (Iraq) in Mesopotamia around 1700 B.C.
