Halley's comet was named after the English astronomer Edmund Halley. He was influenced by his friend Issac Newton and predicted the return of this comet using Newton's theory of gravitation.

Halley's comet is visible from Earth every 75 to 76 years. The last visit was in 1986, so the next predited appearance of Halley's comet is 28 July 2061.
