Go to Settings on your android phone, and then select the option 'About Phone' where you will find the android version. Usually, if a new version of Android OS is available, you should get an automatic update or an update alert. If your phone can not automatically update, you can do it manually by going to Settings-About Phone -System Updates. Please note that not all android phone have System Update function.
