The fastest land animal is the cheetah. This member of the cat family can reach speeds of between 112 and 120 kph (70 -75 mph) however the cheetah can only maintain these speeds for short bursts covering distances of around 500m at a time.

The acceleration of the cheetah from 0 -100 kph (0-62 mph) is 3 seconds, faster than many super cars.

The unusual trait of a cheetah is that it's the only member of the feline species which doesn't have retractable claws in addition the pads on their paws do not allow for gripping which prevents the cheetah from climbing vertical trees.
