The width of the Sun is 1,391,980 kilometres, which is 864,938 miles. It is over 100 times longer than the width of the Earth (12,756 kilometres, i.e. 7,926 miles)

Yes, the Sun is huge comparing to the Earth. However, it is tiny in comparison to some old stars, such Betelguese. It is 500,000,000 kilometres wide, which makes it 500 times bigger than the Sun!

Stars get bigger when they get older. The Sun, only half way through its life, is about 4.5 billion years old. The sun will become bigger and "eat up" some of the inner planets, Mercury, Venus, and possibly Earth and Mars. When it gets older. However, don't worry as it is unlikely that human will still exist on Earth by the time it ocurs.
