Based on the level of respect or formality, you can say "Where are you from?" in Korean in 3 ways:

  • Informal: eodi-eseo watni? (어디에서 왔니?), eodi-eseo watseo? (어디에서 왔어?)
  • Formal: eodi-eseo watseoyo? (어디에서 왔어요?), eodi-eseo watseupnigga? (어디에서 왔습니까?)
  • Very Formal: eodi-eseo osieotseupnigga? (어디에서 왔습니까?)

- where: eodi (어디)
- you (subjective): ne-ga (네가), ni-ga (니가), neo-neun (너는), dangsin-eun (당신은), dansin-ggeseo-neun (당신께서는) - omitted here
- from: eseo (에서), buteo (부터)
