Mount Teide is the highest volcanic mountain in Spain, reaching 3,817 metres (12,199 ft). The dormant volcano is situated in the beautiful island of Tenerife, in the Canary islands, off the Moroccan coast.
Mount Teide can be accessed via the following roads: La Esperanza (TF24), La Orotava (TF21) and Las Canadas (TF38). these roads may be closed only in exceptional circumstances. There is also a cable car that takes visitors near the peak, although you need a special permit and passport! if you want to access the highest point of the mountain.
The mountain may be visited at all times but sometimes access is severly restricted due to weather conditions like mist, snow or powerful winds.
