Former British Home and Foreign secretary Jack Straw is facing legal action as he was Foreign Minister in 2004 when Libyan commander and former dissident Abdel Hakim Belhaj was detained in Bangkok and sent to a prison in Gaddhafi's Lybia where was tortured.

Straw will be accused of complicity in torture, inhuman and degrading treatment, batteries and assault of Belhaj, who was detained with his pregnant wife, Fatima Bouchar. Belhaj wishes to have an apology and to expose the truth about what happened to him.

The case has become a scandal when documents found in an abandoned Libyan government office that linked MI16 to the rendition operation. The context for this case is the so called war on terror, in whose name serious violations of human rights were committed.
