The first Knight from the Pop industry was Bob Geldof (1986), Cliff Richard (1996), Paul McCartney (1997), Elton John (1998), Shirley Bassey (1999), Mick Jagger (2003), Tom Jones (2006) and Bono (2007).

All of them have been merited knighthood not only for their music but also for their passionate involvement in charity campaigns.
