The Internet does exist in Cuba, but it is very limited. It's very expensive - the more so as salaries are generally low. It also has very low bandwith, doesn't work very well and only about 3 per cent of people have it at all. So if you are in a city you should be able to find a connection - more likely in a cafe than in your home - but there may well be problems with using it. There are also a lot of government restrictions on what you can access.

This may change in the future. In the past the US government had a complete trading ban with Cuba, making it very hard to get cables and other necessary equipment. This has now been eased, in fact the US has offered to co-operate with Cuba over internet access, but so far Cuba hasn't been willing to do this.
