His presence in the team was necessary because of the obvious excess of technical skills but absence of physical strenght in FC Barcelona's midfield, especially after another hurting departure, that of Toure Yaya.

Song will probably end up signing up for FC Barcelona because he is technically skillful, physically powerful and is already experienced in the Premier League. His adaptation to FC Barcelona's tiki-taka should be smooth and quick.
