If you look at Tim Henman's whole career, he has actually been consistently a successful player, even though he never made the finals of any of the top world events. His first major public achievement was reaching the quarter finals at Wimbledon in 1996 at the age of 22, before being beaten by Todd Martin. Before that, his progress through the rankings had been rapid, but his career didn't attract so much attention.

After 1996 he was the focus of British tennis hopes for several years. From 1997 to 2004 he usually got to the quarter or semi finals in Wimbledon, though his hopes of reaching the final were never quite realised. He did reach the finals in other tournaments including the Queen's Club, but not in any of the Grand Slam events.

Tim Henman officially retired from tennis in 2007, having earned over $11,000. You can see a more detailed list of his achievements here.
