Sadly, Jon Lord, one of the best keyboardist in the history of rock and roll and founding member of rock giants Deep Purple, passed away yesterday (July the 16th 2012) at a London hospital due to a pancreatic cancer.

This is very sad news for the history of rock'roll as Lord is unanimously recognised as one the most influential keyboardist of all times. Lord was born in Leicester and began to play the piano at an early age. Surprisingly, Lord refused to study at the prestigious Royal College of Music (like his parents wanted) although he had had piano lessons with Philip Land, Frederick Alt and John Palmer.
