France gave the Statue of Liberty to America on 28th October 1886 to celebrate the Declaration of Independence.

Being described as 'a bridge between art and engineering', the Statue of Liberty became the UNESCO heritage in 1984. It also has been a symbol of seeking new life in a new world.
