YES!

At 0532 GMT August 6 2012 NASA landed their biggest ever probe on Mars.

In what was described as "Seven minutes of terror" by the NASA scientists the probe entered the Martian atmosphere and successfully landed.

It was one of the most complex and daring procedures yet attempted to land a robot on Mars. The one-tonne Martian Explorer, known as "Curiosity", was lowered onto the surface by a "sky crane", a hovering capsule that lowered the explorer on three nylon lines.

Curiosity immediately photographed its location and sent this low resolution image back to NASA mission control to confirm a safe landing.
