Venus, also called the evening star, is the second closet planet to the sun, only 108.2 million km away from the sun. It takes Venus 224.7 days to orbit the sun. Venus is a very very hot planet, the temperature is over 460oC or 860oF. Venus has 100 times heavier carbon dioxide than Earth, which makes it trap more heat. Because of the thick sulphuric acid clouds in Venus's atmosphere, we can not really see the surface of Venus. But with the advanced technology of radar-carrying spacecraft, we can picture Venus is dotted with volcanoes and lava flows.
