Question

Is 2013 going to be 'the year with no Summer' in Western Europe?

A lot of records have been broken in Europe recently, mostly in a bad way - for example, the UK has just had the coldest spring since records began, and the last winter was exceptionally cold after a very cold, wet summer over much of Europe. And just now in parts of central and Eastern Europe there are serious floods.
At the moment many other places in Europe are experiencing very pleasant, warm and sunny weather. The long range forecast suggests that the early summer, ie June could be generally good, but there is every prospect of heavy rain and storms later. Of course, it's very difficult to predict the weather more than a few days ahead, so we really don't know. However, even a few weeks of good weather would make this summer better than the last one, which was awful pretty much the whole time.
As for whether this new type of colder, wetter weather is going to be the norm for parts of Europe or is just temporary, that is also not certain yet. We can only hope!
