Who has won the most Wimbledon titles?

As one of the four Grand Slam tennis tournaments, Wimbledon, held at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC) since 1877, is the world's oldest and the most prestigious tennis tournament.

Since the open era of tennis in 1968, there are two male players who stand out having won the Gentlemen's Singles titles 7 times each.

American Tennis player Pete Sampras who won the title in the following years:
1993-1995 and 1997-2000. Swiss Tennis player Roger Federer who won the title in the following years: 2003-2007, 2009 and 2012. Roger is also the winner of most consecutive Gentlemen's Singles titles along Swedish player Bjorn Borg.

The winner of most Ladies' Singles titles after 1967 is American tennis player Martina Navratilova who won the titles of 1978, 1979, 1982, 1983-1987 and 1990.
