Could the new policy of email introduced by Facebook, @facebook.com, be a risk for the user?

It's only in the last few weeks that Facebook have silently introduced a policy of putting a Facebook email address on everyone's profile, so that everyone who sees your profile can also send you email.

You can go on your profile and change your settings so that email is sent to another address, but you may well not like the idea of people emailing you through your facebook accout anyway.

There are instructions here for getting rid of the facebook email address if you are using the Timeline option, but what if you aren't? Many users are furious about this, seeing it as yet another breach of their privacy and right to choose. The Facebook spokesperson hasn't really given any explanation except that it makes things more consistent, which doesn't really tell you a lot.

There are also serious concerns that the new accounts may make users more vulnerable to attacks - you can see a report on this here.
