The Great Wall of China is a series of walls built along an east-to-west line across the historical northern borders of China during different dynasties.

Qin Shi Huang, the first Emperor of China was very famous for starting the massive wall construction to protect his empire against Xiongnu intrusions. However, the wall was not strong and eroded over the time. The wall we are seeing today was most built during the Ming Dynasty.

Beijing is a good place to visit part of the wall built in the Ming Dynasty. The Great Wall of China is called 万里长城 or shorten for 长城 in Chinese. Once you arrive Beijing, there are many day trips for Great Wall Sightseeing organised by hotels, which is the easiest way. You do not need to worry about the transportation, time, tickets as they usually pick you from your hotel and guide you through the whole journey. However, do shop around to compare the price and make sure whats included in your package and whats not.
