Can a peacock fly?

Male peafowl are called peacocks while the female ones are called peahens. Peafowl are flying birds in the genus Pavo of the pheasant family, and they usually nest on the ground and roost in trees. So, yes they can fly although they are not able to fly a long distance but fly up into trees.

Being native to India and Burma, peafowl eat tree leaves, seed heads, flower petals, and insects. Sometimes, they even prey reptiles.
