Jersey is a British Crown Dependency off the coast of Normandy, France. Together with Guernsey, Jersey forms the Channel Islands.
The full name of Jersey is Bailiwick of Jersey, which includes the island of Jersey, the Minquiers, Écréhous, the Pierres de Lecq and other reefs. Although Jersey is not part of the United Kingdom, the UK is responsible for the defence of Jersey. Jersey has a population of 92,500 in the area of 116km2. Saint Helier is the capital of Jersey.
