Tokyo Tower, the world's tallest self-standing steel structure of its kind, is modelled on the Eiffel Tower, but that doesn't make it a bad copy. It was deliberately designed to look like the Eiffel Tower. It has the same lattice design, but is painted white and orange in accordance with air safety requirements.

When it was built, the tower was the tallest building in Japan (it is over 332 metres high). However, in 2012 it was overtaken by theTokyo Skytree.

The Tower was built for practical purposes, for antenna to use in TV broadcasting. In 1958. It is now also used for radio broadcasting, but its other major use is as a tourist attraction. It has become a famous building seen on many films, and people travel to Tokyo just to see it. It is also a popular viewpoint, giving views as far as Mount Fuji on a clear day.
