In many ways the traditional Thanksgiving dinner is also the easiest to cook, because you can prepare so much of it in advance. You can stuff the turkey and have it ready the night before, peel and prepare most of the vegetables and also make things like pumpkin soup in advance and just reheat them. You can find all the recipes you need here but it's also good to explore some short cuts. For example, if you have a big enough roasting tin, you can put peeled but uncooked potatoes around the turkey an hour before it's ready and let them roast in the fat - this saves cooking and mashing them. Put a bit more effort into make ahead items, like stuffing, or something unusual like mixed carrots and other root vegetables baked in honey, and keep the last minute stuff simple - plain steamed greens, gravy made from the meat juices.
Youi can also make a tasty dessert, like pecan or apple pie for example, ahead of time and bake it while you are eating dinner.
