In comparison, Barcelona's great rival, Real Madrid, only has teams in basketball and football. This is one of the reasons why FC Barcelona's supporters say that it is more than a club: not only because of the emotional symbolism it carries for many catalans, but also for the exceptional dimension of its many sport activities and thus its contribution to Catalan society.
