Rafa Benitez has worked for nine clubs in a main or senior role. He started in Real Madrid, working for different teams within it such as the reserve team and the youth side. Then he worked for Osasuna, Extramadura and CD Ferente, but didn't stay very long in any of these clubs. He worked for other teams as well, but in partnership with other coaches or managers.
Then 2001 he joined Valencia, and stayed with them for three years. After that he left to work and study in the UK, and in 2004 became the Liverpool coach. He worked for Liverpool through many changes and ups and downs until he was finally sacked in 2010. This was followed by a brief return to Spain working as coach for Internazionale, and then in November 2012 Benitez was appointed Chelsea coach, where he is contracted to stay for at least a year.
