Before you delete or close your account permanently on Facebook, it helps to backup your data just in case you change your mind later. Makeuseof.com has a nice tutorial on how to backup your Facebook data

















"Deactivate" your FB account by looking for the "Deactivate your account" link after clicking on "Security Settings" on the left of the page, right under "general" settings.
FB will ask for confirmation, request you to choose "managers" for groups or Fan pages you created, etc.
