The clocks go forward at midnight on Saturday 29 March this year. At the moment it's getting dark at around 6.30 pm, so on Sunday this won't happen until after 7.30 - a big difference for most people.
If you work all day and then have to travel home, as many people do, it's really only after the clocks go forward that you get a real chance to be outdoors in daylight after work. This is officially the start of British Summer Time - of course the weather doesn't usually feel much like summer yet, but it is the beginning of the time when people start to live outdoors much more.
A lot of people would prefer it if the UK had the same time as most of our nearest European neighbours, whose clocks go forward at the same time as ours but an hour later. There have been various campaigns to do this but in the end there has never been a change in the law.
