The former world No. 1 tennis player Roger Federer was born to Robert Federer and Lynette Durand. They were comfortable middle class, not rich but not poor either.

Roger's father Robert is a chemical engineer and currently works for Ciba Specialty Chemicals. He met Roger's mother while he was working in South Africa. Since Roger's mother is from South Africa, Roger holds citizenship of both Switzerland and South Africa.
