The 2016 Summer Olympics is held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from 05/08/2016 to 21/08/2016. It is the first time for Rio to host Olympic games, and also the first city in South America. Mexico City is the first host city in Latin America.

Rio was voted as the favorite against the other three candidates (Madrid, Tokyo, Chicogo) to host the 2016 Summer Olympics. Most of the Olympic venues is to be hosted in Barra da Tijuca, a famous borough located in the south west of Rio de Janeiro.
