Based on the level of respect or formality, you can say "Why are you sad?" in Korean in 3 ways:

| wae seulpeo-hasipnigga? | 왜 슬퍼하십니까? |
- why: wae (왜)
- you: neo-neun (너는), dangsin-eun (당신은), dangsin-ggeseo-neun (당신께서는) - can be omitted
- sad: seulpeun (슬픈)
