According to the Guinness World Record, Panthera pardus orientalis, also called the Manchurian or Amur leopard, is the rarest big cat in the world.
It was listed by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature as critically endangered animal. It is believed that there are fewer than 35 Amur leopards living in the wild.
Being the most northerly subspecies of leopard, Amur leopards used to live in the mountainous forests on the border of north-eastern China.
