The Middlemist's Red is the rarest flower in the world. It is believed that only two of them left in the world: one is in the UK's greenhouse - the Duke of Devonshire's conservatory at Chiswick, west London, and another is in Waitangi, New Zealand.

The Middlemist's Red's origin is China, and in 1804 John Middlemist brought them into England.
