What's the difference between Acronyms and Abbreviations?

An Abbreviation is a shortened form of several words or phrases (e.g.: FBI, USA, UK, etc.).
An Acronym is a word formed with the initials of other words or phrases (e.g.: UNESCO, LASER, RADAR, etc.).
The difference is that Acronyms can be pronounced as a single word.
