How to protect your password from hacks?

To begin with, you should make sure your password is as strong as possible. A mix of letters and numbers is better than just letters, and if you have some letters upper case that will help too. It's even better if you mix the numbers and letters up: for example, fre45eDom is a stronger password than freedom45. And it's best not to use words based on facts about yourself that someone else could easily find out; for example, don't use your date of birth, name, home town etc. If you need a password that you can remember, it should be something that only you would know like the name of your first pet.

Many people have just one password for all their different accounts and activities. This may be convenient but it is very unsafe. Ideally you should have a different password each time. Of course you would never be able to remember them all, which means having to write them down, which is another security risk. So if you do write passwords dowm, be very careful where you keep them.
