Yes, the Russian space agency is called Roscosmos and it is very active. The most recent step in the program was the launch of the spacecraft Russian Soyuz. This was delayed after a crash last year, but on 15 May it was finally launched, and docked safely with the international space station on 17 May.

This launch is one of several signs that Russia is now going ahead with more space exploration after doing little for about 10 years. Recently it also sent out a space probe, the Phobos Grunt, but this fell into the Pacific Ocean in January.

There ar now plans to land on the Moon by 2020, and Roscosmos is calling for volunteers to take part in the first voyage. If the landings are successful it is hoped that a space station may later be established on the Moon, with opportunites for major scientific research projects.
