Is it safe to eat reheated rice?

It is only safe if you follow the correct procedures. The problem with rice is that it contains a bacterium that may lead to food poisoning, and this can survive after the rice has been cooked. If you just eat the freshly cooked rice, the bacteria have no time to become harmful; but if after cooking you leave it standing at room temperature for a long time, they can develop. Then, even when the rice is reheated they can still be dangerous.

When the rice is cooked, it needs to go into the fridge as soon as possible, and definitely within the hour. It would be best to put it somewhere cool straight away, to let it cool down enough to go in the fridge. If it is put in the fridge within one hour and stored in an airtight container it should be all right, but it is still advisable to use it within one day.
