To get rid of the Facebook timeline, once that you have chosen the option, is not possible.
Even though the Timeline has not been well received by a large number of users in the next few weeks (notice that no specific date has been given) it will become non-optional feature in Facebook.
Once that the Timeline is On you can't turn it Off, but you are given a test period of 7 days to delete the content that you don't want to display and to learn how to use it, before it gets Active indefinitely.
