Where is the Loch Ness?

Loch Ness is in Scotland: in the Scottish Highlands in the northern part of the UK. The nearest city to it is Inverness. Loch is the Scottish Gaelic word for lake, and the name Ness means cape, promontory or headland.

It is a freshwater lake about 230 m deep at its deepest point. It is also a major reservoir used in the production of hydroelectricity, and a tourist attraction because of its beautiful setting and scenery.

However, Loch Ness is famous around the world for another reason; the legend of a monster living in its deep waters. So far all 'proof' of the creature has turned out to be false, but 'Nessie' is a popular story and even has its own fan club. Just now Loch Ness is in the news because a school in the US has tried to claim the monster really exists (of which there is no evidence whatsoever after repeated searches) and somehow believes that this 'disproves' evolution.
