Why the musician Prince doesn't have an official website anymore?

Prince's official website was called NPGMusicClub.com, and he closed it on 4 July 2006 with no warning. The only announcement about it was an email sent out by the NPG club to fans, which said that they were pausing the club until further notice and that they felt it couldn't go any further at present - which of course doesn't really explain anything. The email talked of possibilities in the future, but nothing specific.

There may have been a problem with the club itself - Prince apparently wanted
to have trademark on it, and this was refused. However, Prince's lawyers have
always stated that the dispute had nothing to do with closing the website.

For several years Prince refused to use the internet for music distribution at
all, but since 2011 he has changed on this.

Prince fans often go to the site prince.org to talk about the singer and his music, but there seems to be trouble accessing it at the moment.
