The New Forest covers a huge area of Southern England and it's very varied, so there is a variety of things to do. The most popular attractions are probably the wildlife: people come just to see the wild ponies, deer, rare lizards and other creatures that roam the forest (be careful though - the ponies, and the donkeys that also roam in some areas, are quite bold and have been known to try and snatch people's ice creams or sandwiches!)

The whole area is great for walking and cycling, with cycle hire shops in several areas. Horse-riding is also popular too (not on the wild ponies, though!) and within the forest there are a number of interesting historic places to visit, such as Buckler's Hard maritime museum, Beaulieu motoring museum and several large old houses.

The forest also contains some lovely old towns and villages that are worth visiting, and is also close to historic cities like Winchester and Salisbury.
