Muse are a top selling band and have had several hits, but there is one song that will become one of the best known in the world this week: Survival, the track chosen as the official song of the Olympic Games.

Survival was written specifically with the Games in mind, and was chosen this summer. The theme of the song is winning, keeping going against the odds, which songwriter Matt Bellamy feels is in keeping with the Olympic spirit. Muse were asked to create an anthem for the Games last year, but the result has only lately been made public.

Some critics have said that the song doesn't put enough emphasis on team spirit and the 'international friendship' side of the Olympics, but others think it perfectly reflects the more winning-oriented ethic of a new generation. We will hear the song being played as the athletes go into the stadium, before the medals are awarded and probably at other times too.
